Fair Volunteers

Volunteers need to know:

  1. Thank you for volunteering to help the largest art and science Fair in the United States - the Mastodon Art/Science Fair held at Jefferson College in Hillsboro! K-12 students in private, public and home schools compete for over $35,000 in prizes, awards, trips and scholarships! We rely on over 500 volunteers to make this Fair happen! You are a vital part of this program!
  2. Every volunteer who works 8 or more hours can receive a FREE ticket to Walt Disney World, FL, or Disneyland, CA. All volunteers must be at least six years old to redeem a free voucher, and MUST pre-register their volunteering intentions for the Mastodon Fair through the Give a Day, Get a Disney Day program on the Disney.com website: <> using the zip code of Hillsboro (63050).
  3. Volunteers will need to check-in and check out at the volunteer station computer located in Hospitality. This is a very important step as we must track volunteer hours to redeem the Disney World/Land ticket.
  4. Volunteers should arrive 30 minute early to check-in and orient themselves to their position. They should receive a job description - if they do not receive one, they need to see the Volunteer Coordinator about their task.
  5. Volunteers should focus on making sure that Fair Visitors are taken care of and doing the position they agreed to do. Cell phones should be turned to silent and put away for the duration of the shift. If an emergency arises, volunteers may check their phones in the hospitality area or outside.
  6. If the volunteer has to leave early, he/she should check-out and let the Information Desk know because someone must take his/her place.
  7. The Smoking Area is outside on the north side of the building only.
  8. Volunteers should call the Mastodon Office (636-797-3000 x 474) or email: Volunteer@masrf.org if unable to work as scheduled. Please give plenty of notice.
  9. Volunteers need to dress appropriately for mixing with children and adults – no low cut tops, excessively tight clothing, no visible tattoos or face piercing, no belly shirts, no "daisy dukes", no beer /alcohol promotional clothing, any messages on t-shirts and clothing should be appropriate with no reference to occult.
  10. Volunteers should wear a red vest and a name tag which are provided.
  11. Hospitality is available for free to all volunteers for lunch and sometimes dinner.
  12. THANK YOU for volunteering for the Mastodon Fair! We help students excel, from the inside out!
