Entering a Science Project

There are two ways to enter an exhibit into the Fair: Online or By Mail. Pleasechoose only ONE method of entering.

Online registration is Free of charge and will be open from January 2– February 11, 2009. See instructions for entering Online below.

By Mail entry forms can be downloaded from this website. By Mail entries must be postmarked by February 2, 2009. There is a $5.00 processing fee per entry. See instructions for entering By Mail below.

You will need Adobe Acrobat Reader to view ALL forms. Click here to download a copy of Adobe Acrobat Reader.

ALL Science Projects are required to submit signed copies of the following forms:

Mastodon Fair-S1 (Online registration form) OR,
Mastodon Fair-S2 (By Mail registration form). NOT BOTH.

If you are a Teacher entering a student's exhibit, you must also fill out and include the Mastodon Fair-T2 Form

Additional Required Forms:
Grades K-8 - Grades K-8 may use the Mastodon Fair-S3 form for certain types of exhibits ONLY. A signed copy of this form must be brought with the exhibit at Exhibit Check-In.

Grades 9-12 - All other exhibits must submit:
                          * ISEF Checklist for Adult Sponsor (1)
                          * ISEF Research Plan (1A)
                          * ISEF Approval Form (1B)

Depending on the nature of a project, other ISEF forms may be required. Please read form 1 carefully to determine what other ISEF forms may be needed. Also use the Rules and Regulations 2010 information on www.societyforscience.org for assistance. Feel free to contact the Mastodon Fair Science Director at sciencedirector@masrf.org for further assistance.

Copies of these signed forms must be brought with the exhibit at Exhibit Check-In. Some exhibits will require additional forms depending upon research area. Check the ISEF "Rules Wizard" website and follow the directions to determine what additional forms may be required.

If you are a Teacher entering a student's exhibit you must also fill out and include the Mastodon Fair-T2 form.

Entering Online

Mastodon Fair encourages this method of entry for your convenience. Online registration will be available starting January 2, 2008 and close February 11, 2008.

1. Please read all of the follwoing instructions before beginning Online registration. It is recommended that you turn off any pop-up blockers you may have on your computer.

2. Click on the link below to begin Online Registration. You will be taken to a Login page.

If it is your first visit to the Mastodon Fair Online Registration click on 'Need a Password?' where you will be asked to fill in your name and email address. Click on the 'Register' button and you will be sent an email with your new password. Return to the Login page, enter your email address and password in order to continue with entering an exhibit.

If you have already set up a password, enter your email address and password to Login. Once you have logged in you can enter exhibits into the Fair, edit information in previous entries, print copies of the entry forms and exhibit ID labels and more.

3. After logging in it is recommended that you click on 'Preferences' at the top of the page and completely fill in the User Preferences information. This will save you from having to fill in this information again later when you enter an exhibit.

4. To enter a Science exhibit under 'Register Science' choose “Enter by Teacher/Homeschool” or “Enter by Parent/Guardian”. When you have finished filling in the required information and click on the Submit button, an Adobe Acrobat PDF file will be generated. This PDF file will include a copy of the completed Mastodon Fair-S1 entry form, the Exhibit ID labels and further instructions.

5 . Print the PDF file and follow the attached instructions for attaching the Exhibit ID labels to your exhibit.

6. Tape a copy of the completed Mastodon Fair-S1 form including all required signatures to the outside of an 9” x 12” envelope. Bring this envelope including all additional required forms with your exhibit to Check-In at the Fair.

Please note that Group projects require ONE copy of the Mastodon Fair form for EACH student signed by the student and their respective parent/guardian. Please staple all forms for the Group together before.

Entering By Mail

All mailed entries must be postmarked by Midnight, February 2, 2009. There is $5.00 processing fee per entry.

1. Download the appropriate form (see top of this page) and fill them out. Please type or print in ink.

2. There is a $5.00 processing fee per entry. A check or money order made out to Mastodon Fair must be mailed with the entry form.

3. Mail the completed form including all required signatures, a check or money order for the total processing fees, and a Self Addressed Stamped Envelope to:

Please note that Group projects require ONE copy of the Mastodon Fair form for EACH student signed by the student and their respective parent/guardian. Please staple all forms for the Group together before you mail them.

After we have received your completed form, your project will be registered. You will be sent a copy of the completed Mastodon Fair-S1 entry form and your Exhibit ID labels with further instructions.

3. Tape a copy of the completed Mastodon Fair-S1 form including all required signatures to the outside of an 9” x 12” envelope. Bring this envelope including all additional required forms with your exhibit to Check-In at the Fair.

Exhibit Check-In

Exhibit Check-In is at the Jefferson College Field House on Tuesday, March 16 from 9AM to 8PM.

You must bring the following with you:

  • The exhibit with the two Exhibit ID labels attached as directed.
  • The 9” x 12” envelope with a copy of the completed Mastodon Fair-S1 entry form taped to the outside.
  • Signed copies of all additional required forms.

Please note than any exhibit brought to Check-In without all of the completed and signed forms may be disqualified from the competition.
