Mission Statement
The mission of the Mastodon Art/Science Regional Fair is to hold a prestigious annual fair that promotes excellence in art and science for area K-12 students in public, private and home schools.

Fair Goals and Objectives

Goals

It is the goal in teaching and education to discover the good minds that exist everywhere; then develop, enrich and expand these minds.
It is the goal of the Mastodon Art/ Science Regional Fair to award excellence and to showcase the talents and abilities of these good minds of Jefferson, Crawford, Washington, & Franklin Counties to their community and now to the world.
Objectives
To develop the curious young minds of students from grades K-12 throughout Jefferson, Crawford, Washington, & Franklin Counties in the study of science using the scientific method with its application to technology and society and in the development of individual artistic talent.
  1. To develop the curious young minds of students from grades K-12 throughout Jefferson, Crawford, Washington, & Franklin Counties in the study of science using the scientific method with its application to technology and society and in the development of individual artistic talent.
  2. To aid teachers in the community in the teaching of Inquiry-Hands-On Science and motivate student interest in both art and science.
  3. To involve the parents in supporting and encouraging in their children the solid study habits necessary for science and art competence.
  4. To bring to the attention of the community-at-large the achievements and successful accomplishments in science and art of Jefferson, Crawford, Washington, & Franklin Counties students from K-12th grades.
  5. To reward the excellence work and creativity of achieving students that compete in the Fair.
  6. To maintain the highest integrity and fairness of judging by qualified judges in their respective fields.
  7. To recognize the outstanding teachers of art and science in the 4 counties that participate in the Fair. These are the teachers that "go the extra mile" for their students.
  8. To send one or two 9-12th grade scientific-worthy Jefferson, Crawford, Washington, & Franklin Counties students to the Intel International Science and Engineering Fair, all related expenses paid for the four-five day trip to a designated city in the United States. To pay half the fare of the chaperone that by law has to accompany the underage student. (Personal expenses to be paid by the individual.)
  9. To convey pertinent information concerning the Fair through publication of a fall and spring newsletter distributed to teachers, students, parents, sponsors and other interested persons in community.
  10. To present the Fair every year with Jefferson College serving as the host institution during their scheduled spring break.
