Art Judging Criteria

Please Note: Specific point/scores will not be disclosed to anyone.

Each exhibit is judged separately. Each exhibit will be judged on its own merit in competition with other exhibits in its grade level. The judges will use the judging criteria as listed and will give consideration to the degree to which standards are met. Each of the items has a maximum value as listed. Three judges will evaluate each exhibit on a point basis. The judges' decision is final.

Judging Process:

  1. 3 independent Judges give each individual Art entry a score.
  2. Those three scores are added together, then divided by 3 to attain final score.

Parts of the Overall Score:
A perfect score for an art project is also 100 points.

1. Creativity & Originality (50pts)
  • Is there originality? (20)
  • Is there creativity? (30)

2. Composition & Design (20pts)

  • Does composition have balance of Color and Design? (10)
  • Is there a natural and logical sequence, a flow from one point of interest to another? (10)
3. Presentation & Skill (30pts)
  • Is the exhibit neat and attractive? (20)
  • Dies the student show knowledge of subject? (10)
Since we do not make any scores known to the public, Judges are encouraged to leave notes to help and motivate students.
