MASTODON ART/SCIENCE REGIONAL FAIR
GENERAL RULES

1. K-12 students attending schools in Jefferson County, Missouri or Kingston School District, or who are residents of Jefferson County, Missouri are eligible to compete. Students may enter through their school or by their parents/legal guardian.


2. A student may enter in both the Art and Science divisions of the Fair. A student may enter once in Art and once in Science. A student may enter either as an individual, as a member of a group, or as a member of a class in both art and science.


3. SCHOLARSHIPS. Art and science students in grades 9 thru 12 are automatically eligible for their DIVISION scholarship.


4. SPECIAL COMPETITIONS

Art Scholarship Competition for students in grades 9 - 12 must indicate whether they wish to participate in the Scholarship Competition by checking the appropriate box on the entry form.

5. Registration forms for all exhibits must be submitted in compliance with the rules and deadlines of the Fair. Use EITHER the Online process or the Paper process, NOT BOTH. ONLY exhibits using the CURRENT MASRF Registration forms are acceptable.


6. NO SUBSTITUTIONS after the registration deadline: 1. One student cannot be substituted for another. (Also, to include exchanging of work. An art exhibit cannot change from wall to table or vice versa.) Exceptions are made only if it is determined that the Fair was at fault. Absolutely no exchanging of art work after registration check-in has been completed.


7. Exhibits must be delivered to the Field House of Jefferson College during the designated Exhibit Check-In and Placement times. (Except art portfolis) See Fair Schedule for instructions.


8. All exhibits must be 'barcode scanned' at Exhibit Check-In. Exhibits not scanned will be disqualified.

9. Medallions, ribbons, etc. not presented at the Awards Ceremony can be picked up in the lobby afterwards by the teacher or the person responsible for entering the student. These prizes will be labeled according to the box checked on the entry form: "School and teacher's name or Parent's name."


10. Exhibits may be removed Sunday, AFTER THE CONCLUSION of the Awards Ceremony. Any and all exhibits not removed by 4:00 p.m. will be placed in the lobby of the Field House and may be dismantled or destroyed.


11. Presentation Award winners are invited to display their exhibits at the Mastodon State Historic Site from the close of the Fair to May 1st. Exhibits remaining at the Site after May 5th will be dismantled and destroyed.


12. All equipment and materials exhibited during the Fair are entered at the risk of the exhibitor. Fair volunteers will be present during public viewing. However, neither Jefferson College, the Mastodon Art/Science Regional Fair, nor the sponsors will be responsible for loss or damage to any exhibit or any part thereof. It is recommended that any items of value should be fastened securely so that they cannot be easily removed and to keep additional hard or electronic copies of important documents.


13. Safety & Display Regulations: For the safety of all visitors to the Fair, all exhibits must adhere to the safety and display regulations.


14. EXHIBITS WILL BE DISQUALIFIED FOR THE FOLLOWING VIOLATIONS:

Disqualified exhibits are not judged and do not receive ribbons or other awards.

1. Incomplete or incorrect completion of current MASRF registration Art forms that are not corrected by the close of check-in of the Fair. If required signatures are missing. Using last year's registration form.

2. Exhibit is not barcode scanned during Exhibit Check-In.

3. Failure to follow the safety and display regulations. If items in not in compliance cannot be removed, the entire exhibit will be removed from display.

4. Failure to adhere to all Federal, State, Local laws and the host institution regulations. Such exhibits will be removed from display.

5. Any exhibit deemed inappropriate to display to the viewing public will be removed. Determination to be made by the Art Director. All decisions are final.

6. If the sum of work overlaps a 2x2 area. (See Scholarship Competition for exception)

7. If framed. (Matting is encouraged within space limits)

8. Failure to include 3x5 card of work title, artist statement, & info

9. Failure to cover signature if visible on work. (Suggestion - use 3x5 card to cover.)
